2003 Kentucky-Ohio Trip
In June of 2003 I was lucky enough to spend two and a half weeks in Kentucky and Ohio. Since all my major families except the DeYoung's went through Kentucky in the late 1700's and early 1800's. It was a very meaningful trip to me. First I went to Floyd and Pike Counties where I spent a week in the County Courthouses and visited the Brushy Fork of Johns Creek. It was magnificent. Then I went to Frankfort for a week and spent time in the State Archives and Kentucky Historical Museum. While there I made a side trip down to Adair County where the Pemberton's settled before spending 3 days in Warren County, Ohio.
I came home with boxes of information and a clearer vision of how special my ancestors were.

I was very fortunate to be able to spend some time with Garnet Crider Ewing and her daughter Robin. What a wonderful woman. I hope when I am 92 I am half as sharp as she is.

James, Dean, Priest, Stratton and Giddens families lived. Isn't is
beautiful.
The Jameses and the Priests lived in the little peninsula where Floyd, Martin
and Pike Counties meet. John Priest's property north boundary was the Martin
County line.
